Flooded House: Now what?

8/27/2021 (Permalink)

Flood inside the house the homeowners returned to their home to discover that the supply hose had come loose from the washer and was now draining onto the carpets.

Too many homeowners delay calling a water damage mitigation specialist in the event that there is a flood. An example of this is when an appliance, such as the washing machine or dishwasher, breaks and leaks throughout your house. If you're lucky, you will notice the leak immediately and be able to repair the issue before it causes any serious damage. Many times, a small leak can go unnoticed for weeks and cause water damage to the house.

One example is a single-family home with a washer and dryer on the second level. After leaving the machine on, the homeowners returned to their home to discover that the supply hose had come loose from the washer and was now draining onto the carpets.

They tried to dry the mess by themselves, but they waited five days before calling SERVPRO of Lower East Side Manhattan. This only made the problem worse and caused more damage to their home.
